Rambling

This image pretty much sums up the main reason why this blog exists. Random creations with no real rhyme nor reason.

Is my writing legible?

Orangeapples

There it is folks, I created a picture of some apples and remembered that I was supposed to use oranges. D'oh. I decided I liked the apples so combined oranges and apples to make a new fruit hereby known as orangeappples. The centre apple piece is pure apple, no playing god with that one. I was hoping for my first image to be free of Photoshopping and it very nearly was until I added the oranges. At least the purple background is completely hand-made. Well, a little colour correction used but that's all.

Was that a good start? I don't know. I made it and posted it, I'll only know when I go away for a while and then take a second look. Let me know if I should be including a link to a larger sized image.

Hope you enjoyed it. I'll post more soon, probably not on a fruit theme, possibly more playing god...

I haven't forgotten...

Quick update on the state of play. I've been busy with work and family stuff so have had to put off the proper launch (if you can call it that). I will be getting this thing started soon, don't worry about that.

In related news, I now have a Wacom graphics tablet. Woohoo!

I've just decided that this whole thing shall be started properly no later than Xmas day. There, that's that sorted then. I better get cracking...

To schedule or not to schedule

I'm wondering whether or not I should stick to a schedule when it comes to creating whatever it is I get to. I'm sure there won't be a schedule on posting things (not everything I make will be posted, only the things that I'm happy with). I'm just not sure if I should try to make myself be creative on a daily basis or not. If anyone is actually reading this, feedback would be very welcome.

If you are trying to motivate yourself, I found something that may well be pretty helpful. I present to you the Seinfeldian calendar (also known as the Seinfeldian chain).

If you are worrying (which I'm sure you are) that I'm veering away from the principle of randomness, don't fret. The randomness applies to the subject matter and style of whatever the hell I can come up with. Perhaps experimentation is a better way of describing things instead of randomness. I don't know what I'm doing, I'm just doing something. At least I will be soon.

So in summary, should I schedule or not schedule?

New/edited template is alive

I'm sure it'll change as time goes on, but I'm fairly happy with my new template (an edited version of the Rounders template).

What else needs sorting before I move onto the blog/website proper?

Do I need a post introducing myself or should I put some work into my blogger profile?

Oh yes, I think I need to work on the sidebar (add a few links, etc.).

Any feedback is welcomed.

Meet the Avatar

Here it is, the avatar to go with my profile. A handsome chap, I'm sure you'll agree to disagree.

Next up, a new template layout followed by a new template design. I'm not sure if that's the correct choice of word for changing the colours/patterns but it'll do for me.

Oranges, wait, hold the oranges. Hello.

I'm sure a lot of blogs start with the author saying "hello". I'm not going to do that. I'd like to start as I mean to go on. So, in the spirit in which I intend to continue this blog/website, I'll just say "Oranges". Yes, it's random from here on out.

Ok, I just realised that I can't start out completely randomly, I do need to come up with an avatar and create a template. No offence to the creators of the default templates, but they're not for me. I think I'll start tonight with an avatar and work on a template tomorrow.

For now, I'll say hello. I'll keep this scheduled and structured until I have all the basics out of the way. Once you see oranges however, the gloves are off and anything goes. Hmm, should I have picked something out to signal the start of random activity or should the signal itself be random and not preselect? I don't know anymore.

As you have probably guessed, I do have a tendancy to ramble on at times. Have fun.

John.
